This week you are asked to setup up edublogs blog which will be used as the basis of your first assessment task. Note if you are going to work in Victorian schools, edublogs provides the Global2 blog campus that the DEECD and Catholic Education Department schools can use to provide free blogs for teachers and students. You might like to check out the Global2 site and look at the pages dealing with safety, informed consent etc to get an idea on the practical implications of blogging in the classroom.
When you go to edublogs you should sign up for a student blog. Having created your blog you will then need to join our EST430 Class according to the instructions in this movie, (the code you need is mrpbpsEST430 ). Once I have approved your class membership, which should be within 24 hours but may be quicker, you will receive an acceptance email, (if you don't get an email within 24 hours please contact me ASAP either on Edmodo or via my gmail.Joining our class is important as once you have done so your edublog will be automatically upgraded to a fully featured Pro blog. Once you have created your blog, the edublogs Getting Started with your blog and Edublogs User Guide has all the information you need to get things happening. You may wish to look in particular at Designing A Beautiful Blog via the edublogger blog. If you have a Smartphone or tablet then edublogs has dedicated apps for iOS and Android.
If you do have a Smartphone or tablet I would urge you to download the app and give it a try.
